Solar Electric Air Heater! (100W 12V) – 100W Solar Panel runs it! – PV space heating!! Ez DIY

Video shows how to set up a small Off-Grid 12V Desktop Air Heater! unit is powered using only ONE solar panel. all you need is 2 things to make it… a 100w (12v) solar panel and the heater/fan unit! (sold on amazon for 8 to 10 bucks). great little unit! cranks out the heat! (*115F continuous). *a 12v battery can be used as the power source too (but is not necessary). output temps consistently hover around 115F (+/-5). *measured over several hours. great little unit for personal space heating! one important note: the output temps vary much more widely when using 2 power sources. (one for the fan and another for the heating element). for consistent output temps hook both sets of wires to the same solar panel or battery. the fan and heating element interact with each other only when using the same power source. note that these come in 150W size as well. the link to the 100W heater/fan unit is listed below. *UPDATE: i just posted a double size 100w/200W 12V version of this heater! it’s got 2 fans, 2 heater elements is mounted on a stand, has 2 switches for low/high power and it also runs just using solar panel(s) *or 12v battery. here’s the link https://youtu.be/9559yVp9koU

this might be a great unit for truck camping or small teardrop camper in use with a power station in conjunction with some type of thermostat to let it cut on and off at certain temps.

Heya. Ended up getting this ptc heater after watching this video. Do you know if a 12v stc-1000 would run this reliably

This is great! I made a bicycle charger. A motor mounted on a bike stand with a large gear for the motor with a chain connecting to a small gear of the back wheel. First I tried a small gear on the motor and large gear at the bike. It produced a lot of voltage under no load. When I hooked up the charger it got very difficult to pedal so I changed the ratio. It works well. This heater is going to be a great addition this winter. Exercise and keep warm all while charging the 12 volt batteries. The solar panels are going to be next. As I can afford them. Thank you from five years in the future.

  11. @krodkrod8132 on November 8, 2024 at 12:47 pm

You could set this on the dash of your car and the windows would never freeze in the winter.

What’s the smallest panel you can use?

  13. @PeteVanDemark on November 8, 2024 at 12:49 pm

Nice video! What is the current draw for fan alone? Heater alone? The positive lead splits into two wires. Are there two separate heating elements making a low (1 element) and high (2 elements) possible? What is the current draw for each? Variations in fan speed are likely slower when current is being drawn by heating elements-higher when not.

Hi Only recently our boiler stopped working. I want to make a powerpack for this type of car cigarette lighter fan heater. I thought 2 or 4 9 volt batteries connected both in series and in parralel to make 18v would work? What do you think? I plan to use rechargable 9v batteries.

  16. @PaulDamico-j1q on November 8, 2024 at 12:54 pm

I don’t know if this was asked already. If I wanted to add a battery to this set up what would you recommend.

  19. @garydaniels4752 on November 8, 2024 at 12:55 pm

How would you add a 12v battery to charge when there is daylight, and power the heater when it is dark?

  20. @AmericanMinutemen on November 8, 2024 at 12:55 pm

That might work nicely for a cat house heater

  21. @ZuraBediashvili on November 8, 2024 at 12:59 pm

Will it work with a power station instead.

  22. @GWAForUTBE on November 8, 2024 at 12:59 pm

These 12v are difficult to find. Ive several 120v. Would they not work?

  23. @motherfukkkka on November 8, 2024 at 1:01 pm

Probably a daft question but could you use a 300w panel to power a 300w heater

  26. @mcswato1 on November 8, 2024 at 1:02 pm

Maybe a person could use a generous soapstone brick pile to absorb some of that heat with. Retain it for a while on a cold day. I’m not really interested in heating every room in the house. A place to keep the plants warm enough to survive with boosted temperatures using indirect heat would be ideal.

  27. @MrNellie1221 on November 8, 2024 at 1:03 pm

what kind of battery set up would you need to run it all night?

  28. @danroberts2055 on November 8, 2024 at 1:03 pm

Was looking for something like this to put in my well house so that during the day it will stay warm an or unfreeze. Perfect solution.

Didn’t catch what the outside temperature was during your test. Have you tested it in a room where it’s 30°

  37. @mikep.coplin6800 on November 8, 2024 at 1:11 pm

Surfing YouTube, seen your posting, have a comment: You should try a fish tank heater (adjustable watts) in a old truck radeator with a nice low watt brower motor fan. Just some thoughts.

Hi So I’m a complete novice at this Sola stuff and frankly elec stuff is a bit weird, But seeing your film and the second on I thought I would have a go. 12v 250w sola panel with controller and 4 little fans hoping to use 2 and have 2 in reserve. It turned up and I read the instructions all 2 minuets, connected it all up and Nothing ??? It wanted a battery ? added bat 12v 180 amp full charge, ran 30 seconds and stop start, removed everything connected sola panel to fan and heater nothing removed heater just fan and it runs. Bat connected to fan and heater runs well. The sola panel was producing 20v in the sun BUT ?? Looking into it a bit more 12v – 100w – 8.333 amps so x 2 fans need 20 amps output from sola panel ? am I right or way of. Andy confused in France

Would this work fairly close to plants in. A 10×20 green house that will be insulated. Plants would be about 2′ -3′ away

Very nice and lovely product ❤️

  43. @punishedproduct on November 8, 2024 at 1:18 pm

I’ve had one of these for a long time and spare panels 😂 I’m going to do this😂😂😂

  44. @ravenbloodommo on November 8, 2024 at 1:19 pm

How do you hook it to 2 solar panels if there is only one set of wires for one solar panel?

  45. @brent9516 on November 8, 2024 at 1:20 pm

You could place the heater in a sealed air space to heat a large container of water. You need to think of ways to store the excess heat for later tlwhen the sun goes down

  46. @rigmedic6941 on November 8, 2024 at 1:20 pm

Can I add a 12v thermostat controller to this heater? So I don’t fry my greenhouse

  47. @niteowlsully2266 on November 8, 2024 at 1:24 pm

My, my. As i read these comments i think were all in trouble. Thank you for saving me the trouble of attempting to build this from scratch. I have been thinking of this very project for a long time and never acted upon it and its so simple. I will be adding a 12v 10a inline fuse and a rocker swiatch to power on off when needed. This is just about right for my camping rig that im now using a delta2 with 500w of solar. Heat isnt such an issue with me cuz im a polar bear but id like to pick your brain about cheap low wattage cooling in roughly 250 cubic feet. Any ideas are helpful and appreciated tia. Now to read some of your other posts ✌️

  48. @ravenbloodommo on November 8, 2024 at 1:26 pm

do the top wires come with the fan or? How do you hook the solar wires on top to the fan?
