Interestingly enough, it doesn’t even have to be window views. A large picture on the wall does the trick as well. This is applied widely here in hospitals, elderly homes and other places like schools, detention centers, offices and more. It really helps to calm you and feel better. The elderly home I volunteer at, they have this huge parking lot next to the building with a corridor next to it. The corridor is all windows, to get plenty of light in I suppose. However, they have put semi-transparent (lets light through) stickers on them with a forest scenery – making the whole area feel THAT much more nice. It really can be as simple as that – improving health one sticker at a time, haha.

Ana- Before I retired I worked as a horticultural therapist with people living with dementia and other mental and physical disorders. It was so gratifying to see how going into the garden and greenhouse made such a difference in people’s moods and behaviors. I also did 3 years of horticultural therapy with elementary school students who mostly lived under the poverty level. It was amazing how these students responded and how it affected their academic performance and behaviors in the classroom.

Thanks for covering this important topic. ❀

What about indoor plants? I find spaces without greenery unfulfilling, even if they otherwise are beautiful

This was great. Also, oddly enough, i just bought this book last week. With this appetizer, I’m looking forward to reading it all the more!
