Thank you for this great video. Do you know what size power source would be required to power a 1000 W audio speaker (specifically, a QSC K 12.2) and a 12 channel mixing board (specifically, a Yamaha MG 12 XU for three or four hours thank you

As a teacher that does Basecamp for a week in a single location with a tent during winter and fall breaks, I turned this off after the opening 5 minutes.

We were looking for our 2nd unit to replace our overpriced and aged Jackery to do those things with tents he said people don’t do.

I guess he’s never seen an off-road vehicle and a tent.

One Vid and done with ReeWray.

I’ve had a Jackery power station and their 200-watt solar panel for only one month, having used it around 10 times for practice and trial-and-error, and one of the solar panel kickstands is already beginning to break off. I’m also unhappy that there is no kickstand in the center of the panel, only on the ends, because when set up the center always sags and doesn’t face the sun the same way as the ends do, so you need to use something to prop the center up. I use a cynder block. I contacted customer service and was disappointed in their response times. I was hoping they would send me a new solar panel. Since I was still within the 30-day return period, I returned it. I think I’m going to go with Bluetti.

  15. @pamkelly7796 on November 8, 2024 at 12:53 pm

Thank you for your practical, insightful, and even humorous insight. I have watched several videos to educate myself before purchasing a solar generator,, and your video has been by far the most helpful. Straight to the point.

  16. @count_it_all_joy on November 8, 2024 at 12:54 pm

I also made the mistake of buying Jackery!

  17. @Lory27-d9g on November 8, 2024 at 12:54 pm

I don’t see why to waste power in a fridge, when you can get a Yeti cooler that keeps your food cold for 3 days at least! I have Bluetti 600 (cost 140 bucks) and it’s enough for me for 3 days of camping. I use it to charge devices, lights and USB mini celling fan. About food, I use a mini portable butane stove to cook! Fridge and coffee maker use too much power!

going camping and looking to have a heating blanket for 4 hours a night… any suggestions? Going for 2 nights

    Very well thought out video.

  20. @billwatcher9321 on November 8, 2024 at 12:57 pm

You missed the most important consideration: Recharge time. A power station that takes all day to recharge from a generator is useless in most scenarios.

  21. @javierramos7409 on November 8, 2024 at 12:58 pm

With one could I power two fully equipped 5×9 grow tents?

  22. @coffeehunter8742 on November 8, 2024 at 12:59 pm

  24. @robertbuck7186 on November 8, 2024 at 1:01 pm

The higher the wattage the more high wattage things you will be tempted to use.. and for me thats the acid test.. for the listed specs of the unit. How old or worn are the batteries.. Does it really live up to the watt/hours?

  25. @JK13A on November 8, 2024 at 1:01 pm

Thank you for making such a well thought out video. Learning about this stuff isn’t easy and really appreciate good content like this.

aargh. I found that Pecron, at least the one i looked at, Only came with a 1 year warranty – not a good sign, right?

I want a power station that charges with solar charging so my pc can run off of solar energy. Pc’s are power hungry😅

Could you test a 8k diesel heater

  30. @meganmcandrew7915 on November 8, 2024 at 1:10 pm

I do appreciate your prsentation. However regarding the comparisons between watt hours, continuous watts and peek watts and calculating requirements, I need you to go much slower and reiterate the significance of each in a meticulously deliberate way so these terms and their meanings have time to sink in. Thank you.

  31. @StillCrazyFL on November 8, 2024 at 1:10 pm

To me, the first criteria to consider is, how long you need to employ a battery, for the purpose intended. Not the battery capacity, that’s the second criteria. Everyone’s NEED is different. For example, if you NEED 8 hours minimum battery power, everyone’s watt hour consumption during that time will be different. However, whatever that consumption is for you, for that 8 hour period, determines the maximum battery capacity you NEED. The only other variable you can introduce, to modify your personal battery capacity NEED, is the battery re-charge method you employ. (i.e. solar, gas or dual fuel generator) Personally, I don’t think solar is worth the effort and cost. First, I think it’s impossible for solar to match the 85% efficiency rating of the battery. Second, it’s impossible for solar to operate at peak performance for any significant length of time, unless you live in a desert-like location. Even then, solar can only marginally extend your battery run-time NEED. Unless you invest in a non-portable whole house system, with high battery storage capacity, it’s unlikely solar is worth the trouble.

THIS is what the Internet was originally designed for. For experts to educate us. So rare these days to find exactly this. Excellent job my friend, I came here looking for some information, found it, and then some. This should be required viewing before anyone is allowed to post a vid on YouTube.

    Thank you bro!!

  34. @occamraiser on November 8, 2024 at 1:13 pm

Anyone who EVER played with solar panels knows that unless you live in Arizona you are never going to charge up a battery pack from a 50 or 100w solar panel during a power outage. I have 500w (rated) of panels in Northern England charging 300aH of lead acid cells. I can rely on 1.5/2KWh if the power goes out but I expect it to take several days to recharge in summer or several weeks to recharge in winter : The main lies being told by manufacturers are the fantasy of tiny solar panel recharging on any useful timescale.

  35. @slimjohn2090 on November 8, 2024 at 1:14 pm

Im still lost. Im thinking about a 8k watt system to run my house full time and hire someone to install it…idk

  36. @dug-o3t on November 8, 2024 at 1:15 pm

Can you tell me which power station was best as far as charging availability when in -20C weather 5 months out of a year in Calgary (for emergency use only). Which one has the most options as far recharging that generator, (besides driving your car around plugged into lighter outlet 6 hrs.)

  37. @jonasgrumby4749 on November 8, 2024 at 1:18 pm

Very good class, Would like to just see your opinion of the best ones without the class

  39. @eclectic.elements11 on November 8, 2024 at 1:19 pm

This is so helpful! Thank you so much for all this information! I will now be able to make the educated decision on a power station AND how much solar I really need. Very very helpful!
