Just picked up a Sofirn LT1S, I hope it goes well. I know the GoalZero did some big winning on GearLab, but this review is so much more thorough. The lantern world is a mess right now, somebody could really jump in here with a truly great product.

I’m still banking on somebody to come out with the perfect "Outdoor iPhone" emergency FM AM SW NOAA radio / flashlight / lantern / SOS strobe / siren / solar / crank dynamo / usb-c / 21700 battery / power bank / Bluetooth speaker / air compressor / jump starter…with an antenna port and external solar panel ports.

It’s probably too much to ask XD.

  2. @quprigon on November 8, 2024 at 12:33 pm

Blud did a whole scientific review 🗿🧏🏻

  3. @studio-era on November 8, 2024 at 12:33 pm

The amount of thought, effort and organization you put into this video is far, far under appreciated. I hope my thumbs up, comment and subscription helps you a little. Keep up the excellent videos! And thank you.

Incredibly thorough research! Thank you for all your hard work!

  5. @konixtwenty8275 on November 8, 2024 at 12:37 pm

Your comparisons are really professional and amazing. I have a a question: How many hours will Goal Zero 600 run at medium lumens and what intensity would those lumens would be at?

  6. @PKNEC1 on November 8, 2024 at 12:38 pm

Awesome 👌.Thank you for taking the time to complete such an in depth review.

  7. @navsoltani on November 8, 2024 at 12:38 pm

    Just wow to your thoroughness!

  9. @Michoristo on November 8, 2024 at 12:39 pm

Without an intro to all the lights, i have no idea which one you are talking about.

  10. @GailBarnes-y6i on November 8, 2024 at 12:40 pm

    great information. Thank you!

  11. @OverlandCalling on November 8, 2024 at 12:43 pm

Great coverage on the lights! Efficient and thorough coverage. I only have the Goal zero 600, but I thought you did it justice and agree with every thing you said about it.

  12. @mattssacre on November 8, 2024 at 12:44 pm

Great video! I personally use Sofirn flashlights as lanterns. Put a white silicone diffuser on either a SP33S (5000 lumen down to 10 lumen) or SP33v3 (3500 lumen down to 1 lumen). They will light a huge area if needed.

  13. @cortneysmith69 on November 8, 2024 at 12:47 pm

Another fantastic video Liz! The ML6 is actually on sale for $53 on the REI site (at least in the US). Absolutely picking one up! Thanks again for the effort you put into these videos 😁

  14. @jeffgendron1959 on November 8, 2024 at 12:47 pm

Nice comparison. Another one you could check out is the Sofirn LT1s. It has USB C charging, power bank function, replaceable 5000mAh battery, ramping from warm to cool white, red light and also you can turn on only one side for more direct lighting. It’s very compact.

  15. @dalmatamararendek534 on November 8, 2024 at 12:48 pm

Amazing! Thank you for all this information! You are a 💡 hero!

  20. @lears6169 on November 8, 2024 at 12:58 pm

    Excellent analysis!
    Are you an engineer?
Anyway, thank you for the great work and guidelines for campers.

  21. @Werkar27 on November 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm

Your reviews never cease to amaze me mate. The charts are so helpful, but the competence and level of testing is second to none. Testing the lanterns with a luxmeter and testing the battery capacity down to the last bit is requires real determination and skills. Thanks for taking six months of your time to give us the most un-biased review out there. Cheers.

    Great review and Cristal clear

I have two ML6’s for over three years….they are amazing, never fail, and they are indestructible

  26. @satl3161 on November 8, 2024 at 1:04 pm

    Love the content

  27. @muskadobbit on November 8, 2024 at 1:06 pm

Great review. Very helpful. Thanks for doing this for us.

  28. @leomdk939 on November 8, 2024 at 1:09 pm

Worth noting: lanterns with discreet brightness levels have predictable durations … continuous brightness level is nice for customization, but the disadvantage is that you can’t be sure of exactly how long it will last since your output was customized. Which one is better is a matter of opinion, of course. 🙂

  29. @rodmunch69 on November 8, 2024 at 1:13 pm

Really well researched, I love how much work you put into your videos. I’ll be picking up a ML6 soon – and I’ll make sure to use your link.

I loved the review but currently looking at two products I didn’t see in the review. I am looking at the Goal Zero Lighthouse Micro Charge and Ledlenser ML4. Anyone out there who may have some expereince with both?

    Awesome video as usual 👍🏼

  37. @fktygglbtchbtch1384 on November 8, 2024 at 1:18 pm

It’s extremely difficult in your videos because naming is NOT consistent. i.e. I see Packlite Titan on the chart but where is the link?

  38. @filipemmarques on November 8, 2024 at 1:21 pm

Hi Liz!!! Hope you are great!!! It been a while!!! How was your trip? Hope great!!! A more great video, I real don´t realize that is so many lanterns!!!

  39. @no1slisteninganyway on November 8, 2024 at 1:23 pm

Thanks, Liz! Impressively thorough as always. Do you think you might do a camp pillow comparison someday?

  40. @cv6473 on November 8, 2024 at 1:23 pm

Ah just what i needed. Now i’m just between the ML6 and the Titan. I didn’t see in video comparing squ footage coverage of light base on lumens setting? This would be very helpful!

  41. @jameseastern7058 on November 8, 2024 at 1:23 pm

Thanks I chose the Biolite 500 and Ledlenser ML6, got 2 of each. Great Review

  42. @ajarnolaf9034 on November 8, 2024 at 1:23 pm

have you used the ‘hand–crank’ of the Thorlite? Does one need to be Thor to use it?

  43. @SDMTB14 on November 8, 2024 at 1:23 pm

Great tests! For any other lighting related videos take into consideration Nitecore. They make really good quality products

  44. @neonsamurai1348 on November 8, 2024 at 1:25 pm

One thing I love about the ML-6 is that you can bring spare batteries if you want, or replace it with a higher MAH battery, and you can pair it with a flashlight or headlamp that also uses the same 18650 battery type. Just be sure to put the spare batteries into a closed case so that there is no possibility of them shorting out. Good review.

  45. @TheCosmicGuy0111 on November 8, 2024 at 1:26 pm

    Sweet!

  46. @Davidow1 on November 8, 2024 at 1:29 pm

    The backyard is looking good.

  50. @chomp54321 on November 8, 2024 at 1:31 pm

Back from a 3 week trip and catching up with things.

As usual, this is a fantastic review. 10 for 10 on the amount of info! the LEDLENSER lantern is indeed impressive, and it is my type of camping gadget that have non-proprietary replaceable batteries. Even better, you can get a 18650 AAA battery adapter so that in a bind you can use 3 AAA batteries to power the lantern.

On an upcoming camping trip, I’m going to go old school and try out the Coleman white gas (naphtha) camping lantern and stove that I found in a garage sales. Hopefully they are not going to blow up on me LOL.
